While sitting comfortably in chairs we explore the intimate relationships between consciousness, energy and substance to understand how our mind, heart and especially our physical body may open to effectively receive, contain and radiate spiritual truth.
Mudrasana is exercised individually, with partners and as group, using guidance from without and from within. Working with music, silence, movement and stillness, we relax beyond our stress, tension, pain, agitation and fatigue into comfort, ease and power. Through precise gestures, postures, meditative dance, breath awareness, letting be and letting flow, we open up to the bliss and the ecstasy of the cosmic dance.
Embodying solidity (earth), fluidity (water), radiance (fire), freedom of movement (air) and spaciousness (ether), we gain a finer and more conscious control of breath, aura, metabolism and chemistry in our body’s substance. The five bodies or sheaths designated in traditional Tantra-Yoga – physical sheath of matter, the energetic sheath of life, the power sheath of mind, the knowledge sheath of the psychic being and the bliss sheath of the infinite spirit – are brought directly to our living perception.
In a more advanced stage of the practice, we open to the Merkavah, the Chariot of Intent, in which the all-connected realms of Spirit, Light, Love, Power, Action, and Matter are distinct and interpenetrating.
Mudrasana always enables us to focus intent – our will, passion and aspiration – through listening and spontaneous gesturing to create in our material substance and energy field, a condition of blissful clarity, abundant vitality and peaceful equilibrium.
